first batsman to score century in cricket history

The first batsman to score century in test match?

Charls Banner man of Australia scored the first ever century in test cricket, making 165 unbeaten against England at Melbourne in March 1877. WG Grace of England made second ever test century (152 vs Australia at Oval) 3 years later. Intertestingly, England and Australia were first two teams before South Africans joined nearly 3 decades later which means for only Aussies and English have scored 50 test centuries!

In one day internationals, Denis Amiss scored first hundred at international level while Chris Gayle of West Indies smashed first T20 century.
